Senior Digital Associate
Mighty Earth is hiring a Senior Digital Associate to shape and implement our digital strategy, with a focus on social media. As the Senior Digital Associate, you will be a part of high-level campaigns to save rainforests, rewild native ecosystems, stop climate pollution, transform the way food is produced, and more!

Your responsibilities:
As the Senior Digital Associate you will work closely with our campaign teams, communications team, and senior leadership to conceive, produce, manage, and curate our social media presence, manage our content calendar, and help grow online engagement for our campaigns. You will set overarching content strategies and work alongside our talented campaigners to engage supporters and decision-makers online.
Your specific responsibilities day to day will include:
- Serving as Mighty Earth’s content strategist and creator across our social media programs, especially LinkedIn and Instagram.
- Identifying growth opportunities for Mighty Earth’s digital presence and recommending next steps on additional platforms in a changing digital landscape.
- Working closely with campaign teams to create, manage, and publish compelling and engaging content, including images, posts, and video;
- Developing a deep understanding of Mighty Earth’s campaigns and approach.
- Creating and managing Mighty Earth’s social media calendar with strategic campaign actions, balancing regularly scheduled content with the evolving needs of our campaign and communications teams;
- Staying up to date with current events in the news and identifying relevant opportunities to highlight Mighty Earth’s work;
- Collaborating with allies and Indigenous partners across the world to create online content to help elevate their work;
- Leading analytics, SEO optimization and reporting to help assess effectiveness and impact;
- Staying informed about the latest trends in social media to keep our programs effective and engaging.
- Working to maintain brand guidelines and consistency across platforms;
- Creating a bank of assets, including evergreen content, that are ready to go and versatile enough to be used in multiple situations.
- Providing support on email, web, other communications platforms as needed.
What we’re looking for in you:
- You have a record of creating outstanding social media content.
- You have built successful, innovative, social media campaigns that drive organic growth and can move people to act.
- You understand social media strategy and are familiar with common platforms and best practices for digital communications – and are willing to learn more as you go;
- You have graphic design skills and strong video editing skills;
- You are a skilled writer who can swiftly adapt tone for different online audiences, with an emphasis on storytelling.
- You have at least three years of experience in digital or communications work, ideally in a nonprofit and campaign or advocacy setting;
- You are entrepreneurial, creative and can develop ideas and see them through to implementation;
- You have a passion for working for a better and more just world. You are excited to fight climate change and stop deforestation;
- You are organized and can balance competing priorities, including being willing to ask why and when we may need to pass on an idea because it doesn’t fit into the plan or priorities;
- You have experience working in a campaigning, advocacy, or grassroots organizing setting
- You have a global outlook with an ability to work with team members across continents, move projects and ideas, and work with people from other cultures and a variety of backgrounds. English fluency is required.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working on, or sound knowledge of, environmental issues.
- Additional language skills are a plus
More about our team: Mighty Earth’s team is diverse, coming from backgrounds in non-profit organizations, election campaigns, government, the private sector, and legislative offices, at a range of experience levels.
Details:
- This is a full-time position and candidates can be based anywhere in the U.S. or U.K.
- For US-based candidates, we have a preference for candidates in the DC-area or East Coast time zone.
- For candidates based in the D.C. area, the expectation is to work in the office two days per week.
- You will report to our Vice President of External Affairs.
- Compensation and benefits: The salary range for this position is 70,000 to 79,000 USD for US candidates and 40,000 to 59,000 GBP for UK candidates, depending on experience and location, depending on experience and location. We have a generous benefits package including group health insurance, dental benefits, unlimited vacation time, paid holidays, and a 401(k) plan.
